This area seems to lack any sign of modern day. The movie theaters only take cash and most movies cost less than $8 (yeah, crazy, right?). The amusement parks are old and run down, so are many of the stores and motels. As I drive down the road or walk into a store, I think to myself "damn, it is not 2011."
Living in a time vortex is not quite as enjoyable as one might think. While it might appear that this town is stuck in 1998, I still cannot purchase a gameboy game at Walmart or pick up pogs on my way home from campus. However, I do get to enjoy the old-fashioned small town feel at times. I guess I should mention that if this town was really in 1998, I would be 9 and dressed for the wrong decade.
Do you think you could live in a town like this?
