Yesterday I was watching Nickelodeon, as I often do, and a commercial caught my attention. Kids playing with a sticky, slimy, neon-colored danced across the television screen above the text "visit gak-is-back.com." Excited, I abandoned the episode of iCarly I was enjoying and ran to my computer. It's true, friends. Hop on your Razor Scooter and get yourself to Toys R Us because Gak is back. You might be wondering why I am so excited about Gak's comeback. If you are wondering, then you are not a true 90s kid. The truth is, Gak is number three on the list of toys I always wanted but was never allowed to have (right after My Size Barbie and a Power Wheels jeep), and I can assume other 90s kids feel the same way. Gak is not a parent friendly toy. It's messy and I imagine it smells really bad. I also imagine it has a pretty short shelf life, so it wasn't something our parents wanted to spend their cash on. Not to mention it's sort of stupid. I forgot about Gak for several years until I saw this commercial.Since I am an adult now, I plan on buying my own Gak as a sort of rebellion. I am wondering if anyone ever owned Gak. Is it as messy/stupid/stinky as my mother was convinced it was?
