This aired on T.G.I.F. in '97. It was a show all about Marty, who had died from eating a bad hamburger, and his best friend, Steve. Marty became Steve's guardian angel. Maureen McCormick (Marsha Brady) played Steve's mother but left the show pretty early on. I thought both of the main characters were dreamy and I tuned in ever week after Sabrina. Marty was not the smartest kid around but he does fun things like gives a voice to a frog in science class and makes a doll come to life.
Erik Von Detten is one of the best looking actors of the 90s, I will not lie. He was gorgeous and I loved his hair. Odd Man Out was a show about Andrew Whitney (Erik Von Detten) as the only male in the family. He lived with his three sisters, his mom, and his aunt Jordan. Usually his best friend Keith hung around and had a crush on Andrew's sister. Markie Post played Andrew's mom, Julia. Markie Post is my favorite TV mom. It aired on T.G.I.F. in '99 when it was in its final stages.
I honestly do not remember if this show was good, but the premise was Andrew's lack of privacy and dealing with all these women in the house. And he was hot so I watched it every week.
Canada brought us some fantastic shows. The Zack Files was one of those wonderful gifts. It brought us Jake Epstein, who later moved onto Degrassi fame, Robert Clark, brother of Daniel Clark (Degrassi), and Michael Seater. In the series, Zack (played by Robert), goes to an all boys school and becomes surrounded by weird, paranormal, activities. His two best friends help him out of a lot of really strange situations.
It aired on Fox Family for two years.
This show originally aired when I was an infant but they played reruns of it for most of my childhood on Nickelodeon. It was an "American Western" TV show about six teenagers living on a dude ranch in Arizona. It lasted fifty-some episodes about different summers on the ranch. They played pranks on each other, fell in love, and had to deal with some interesting situations with visitors on the ranch. My favorite aspect of the show was that there was a female character named Brad, and she was pretty awesome.
Hey Dude was one of the earliest appearances of actress Christine Taylor.
This is another Canadian show. It used to play on UPN in the mid afternoons when I got home from school. I get sad that no one remembers this show because Ryan Gosling was one of the lead characters. Persia White (Girlfriends) was also a main character. Those two characters were my favorites.
The premise of the show was that these teenagers attended high school... on a cruise ship. Just like normal teenagers.
Maybe you remember this as the show with the girl with rainbow hair, or the other show the Black Ranger was on. Anyway, it was a show about this group of random misfit teenagers living on an alien space ship going to Space Academy. They are from all different planets, Harlan being the only human from Earth.
Side note:This is one of my better trivial memories because when I was 14, my mom was watching soap operas and I pointed out that Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) from General Hospital used to be on this show and no one had any clue what I was talking about. And Jewel Staite has appeared in a lot of similar shows over the years but this will always be my fondest memory of her.
It aired on SNICK in '96.
This was a show loosely based on a book series of the same name. It chronicled the lives of twin sisters Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield living in California. Elizabeth was smart, friendly, and honest. While Jessica was flirtatious and reckless. Their conflicting personalities made for good television.
It aired from 1994-1997 on Fox and UPN, and reruns aired on Fox Family.
This show aired 1996-1997 on Disney Channel but was filmed in Canada. Starring Jewel Staite and Ben Foster. It was about their lives as best friends and everything that happened to them in their eighth grade year.
